Videos are saved to your device's default Downloads folder as set by your browser. On most devices:

  • Windows: C:\Users\YourName\Downloads
  • Mac: ~/Downloads
  • Android: Internal Storage → Downloads
  • iPhone/iPad: Files app → Downloads (after tapping "Save to Files")

You can change your browser's default download location in its settings.

Yes. When VioHarvest fetches the available formats, you will see audio-only options in addition to video formats. Select the MP3 or M4A option to download just the audio track.

This is useful for saving music, podcasts, or any video where you only need the audio.

There is no set daily limit for normal personal use. VioHarvest is designed for individual use, and we ask that you use it reasonably.

Automated bulk downloading using bots or scripts is prohibited under our Terms of Service and may result in your IP being blocked.

Playlist downloads depend on the source platform. For some platforms, pasting a playlist URL will allow you to download individual videos from that playlist. Bulk downloading an entire playlist in one click is not currently supported.

We recommend downloading videos individually for the most reliable results.

Private videos cannot be downloaded — VioHarvest can only access publicly available content. If a video is set to private or unlisted, it will not be accessible.

Age-restricted videos may not be downloadable as platforms typically require account verification to access them, and VioHarvest does not log in on your behalf.

Download speed depends on two factors: your internet connection speed and the file size of the video (which varies by resolution and length).

Fetching the list of available formats typically takes 2–10 seconds. The actual file download speed is the same as any other file download on your connection.

Formats & Quality

Available formats depend on what the source platform provides. Common formats include:

  • MP4 — most compatible, works on all devices (recommended)
  • WebM — open format, great for web use
  • 3GP — smaller file size, suited for older mobile devices
  • MP3 — audio only, music and podcasts
  • M4A — high-quality audio only
Recommendation: Choose MP4 for maximum compatibility across all devices and media players.

VioHarvest offers up to 4K (2160p) quality where the source platform provides it. Available resolutions typically include:

  • 2160p (4K)
  • 1080p (Full HD) — most common highest quality
  • 720p (HD)
  • 480p (SD)
  • 360p and 240p (low bandwidth options)

The maximum available quality is determined by the original upload — if a video was uploaded in 720p, 1080p will not be available.

For phones and tablets, MP4 (H.264) is the best choice — it's supported natively by the gallery/photos app on both Android and iOS without needing a separate player.

  • Best quality on mobile: MP4 1080p or 720p
  • Save storage space: MP4 480p or 360p
  • Audio only: MP3

Some high-quality formats (especially 1080p+ from YouTube) have separate video and audio streams. If you download only the video stream, it may have no sound.

Fix: Always select a format labelled as having both video and audio, or choose the standard MP4 option which typically combines both streams automatically.

If sync issues persist, try downloading a different quality or format, or use a media player like VLC which handles most encoding issues.

Subtitle download support varies by platform. Where available, subtitles can be downloaded separately as .srt or .vtt files and used with a compatible media player.

Embedded subtitles (burned into the video) will always appear in the downloaded video as they are part of the video itself.

Troubleshooting

Try these steps in order:

Check the URL — make sure you copied the full link, including https://. Avoid using shortened URLs where possible.

Refresh the page — reload VioHarvest and try again with a fresh paste.

Try a different browser — Chrome or Firefox tend to work best. Disable any ad-blockers temporarily.

Check if the video is public — private, deleted, or region-locked videos cannot be downloaded.

Try again later — the platform may be temporarily blocking requests. Wait a few minutes and retry.

This error usually means one of the following:

  • The video has been deleted or made private by the uploader
  • The video is geo-restricted and not available in your region
  • The platform temporarily blocked external requests (common with YouTube)
  • The URL was copied incorrectly — try re-copying from the browser address bar
If you believe the video is public and the link is correct, wait 10–15 minutes and try again. Platform-side blocks are usually temporary.

When a video opens in the browser instead of downloading:

  • Desktop: Right-click the video → "Save video as…"
  • Android: Long-press the download link → "Download link" or "Save link"
  • iPhone/iPad: Tap the download link → tap the share icon → "Save to Files"
Chrome tip: If the video opens in a new tab, click the three-dot menu (⋮) at the top right and select "Download".

VioHarvest does not limit your download speed — the speed you get is your full internet connection speed. Slow downloads may be caused by:

  • Your internet connection being congested or slow
  • The source platform throttling traffic during peak hours
  • Downloading a very large file (4K videos can be several GB)

Try downloading a lower resolution to reduce file size, or try again at a less busy time of day.

VioHarvest downloads the original media file directly from the source platform. We do not modify, inject, or bundle anything into downloaded files.

If your antivirus flags a file, it's almost certainly a false positive triggered by the .mp4 or .webm file extension. Video files cannot carry viruses in the traditional sense.

Be cautious: Always make sure you are on the real VioHarvest site (vioharvest.blogspot.com). Copycat sites may bundle malware. Never download or install .exe files from any download tool.

If VioHarvest looks broken or unresponsive, try these fixes:

  • Hard refresh: Press Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) to clear the cached version
  • Clear browser cache: Go to browser settings → Clear browsing data → Cached images and files
  • Disable extensions: Ad-blockers or script-blockers can sometimes interfere. Try in a private/incognito window
  • Try another browser: Chrome and Firefox are most reliable

Platforms frequently update their APIs and may temporarily block or change the way external tools access their content. This is especially common with YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

The legality of downloading videos depends on what you download and how you use it. It is generally acceptable to download:

  • Videos you personally created and uploaded
  • Content explicitly licensed for free download (Creative Commons, Public Domain)
  • Content for personal offline viewing where permitted by local law
It is NOT legal to: Download and redistribute copyrighted content without permission, use downloaded content commercially, or violate the source platform's Terms of Service.

VioHarvest is a tool — you are solely responsible for how you use what you download. When in doubt, seek legal advice.

No. VioHarvest does not store the URLs you submit, does not track your downloads, and does not require any personal information. URLs are processed in memory for your session only and discarded immediately.

Only if you have the rights to do so. Downloading a video does not grant you any copyright or usage rights over that content. Unless the content is in the public domain, released under a Creative Commons license, or you own it, you may not:

If you are seeing rate-limit or access-denied messages, wait 15–30 minutes before trying again. Automated or very rapid repeated requests may trigger a temporary block on our end to protect the service.

Yes, VioHarvest works with VPNs. Using a VPN does not interfere with the Service. In fact, a VPN may help if certain content is geo-restricted in your region and you want to access it from another country where it is available.

Ensure that your VPN doesn't block the necessary outbound connections. If you experience issues while using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily to rule it out as the cause.
